Jordan Clay Album Launch @ Shotkickers
Prepare yourself for a kooky night of crunchy guitar tones and crushing lyrics as Jordan Clay and band returns to the stage to launch their new self-titled album 'Jordan Clay and the Sounds of Arrakis'.
Recorded by the band in their tin foil bunker, this record explores the darker side of life, love, death and extra terrestrial encounters.
Taking time out from driving the emergency services meat wagon on the frontlines of the bone wars, enigmatic frontman Jordan Clay channels classic writers like Tom Waits and Nick Cave with an Australiana bush poet slant.
This is their first and potentially last show of the year, and the ideal opportunity to pick up an extremely limited pressing of ethically sourced vinyl.
Joined by very special guests Strange Kind of Future and Tap Dog, it's bound to be a scorcher.
Strange Kind Of Future is a new way of examining how we value entertainment. Developed in the midst of lockdowns and uncertainty about the future of music, collaborators Oscar Galt and Matt Bourke pivoted a project that they had been working on to create a new vision for how a band could exist and function. Cut to “Australian Nightmare”, a horror themed record loaded with musical collaborators including Alison Thom(Howlite), Bec Goring and Hollie Joyce.
Tapdog is a four piece pub rock band from Naarm/Melbourne. They began in 2019 and have since then released a collection of EPs and Singles such as "Tapdog II, LIVE and The Welcome. Tapdog writes a slapstick love letter to Rock n Roll and its many roots. Founder Liam Wilkerson drives the group to dive head first into many of these foundational ideas from Country/Folk to Garage Rock, taking no prisoners and keeping things light.
Their current live set is one that pays homage to classic Aussie rock sound while adding flavours of funk and krautrock to bring pub rock into the modern era.
