To ring in the Year of The Wood Dragon in style, the culinary mind behind some of Sydney’s best Asian eateries, Dan Hong and Crazy Rich Asians actor, Remy Hii have joined forces for a modern luxe rendition of an age-old tile game, at the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Mahjong Club.

Taking over Merivale’s Bridge Street icon, Est., the iconic duo invite Sydneysiders to celebrate Lunar New Year by trying their hand at the fast-paced tile game. In between tournaments led by a local mahjong master, Eric Wan, guests can enjoy an auspicious menu of reimagined delicacies made with Hong’s modern fusion flair and bespoke Johnnie Walker Blue Label-infused cocktails.

For this event guests have four ticket options to choose from - Premium Newcomer Players, Premium Expert Players, Premium Spectators and Cocktail Sessions.

Premium Newcomer Players will be taken through a mahjong training session with our Mahjong Master, Eric Wan. Also included in your ticket will be your choice of one Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktail, created by Merivale’s head mixologist Jonathan Liu, plus guests can delight in a curated selection of five delectable menu items designed to tantalize your taste buds and complement your chosen cocktail, curated by Dan Hong.

Premium Expert Players will have an opportunity to showcase their mahjong skills while indulging in their choice of one Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktails plus five food items from Dan Hong’s curated menu.

Premium Spectator ticket holders will be invited to take a seat at our exclusive viewing platform to witness and immerse themselves in the world of Mahjong. Shared supper club style seating will allow guests the opportunity to enjoy a choice of one preferred Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktail from our premium selection and 5 items from Dan Hong’s menu to accompany your experience.

Or opt for a sophisticated cocktail session where you'll indulge in the exquisite flavours of a Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktail in our cocktails lounge and bar. Alongside this premium beverage, you will also enjoy a complimentary gourmet snack to complement the tasting experience curated by Dan Hong. A number of menu items will also be available à la carte.
