On-Ly is the brainchild of musician Joshua Smeltink. Recently returned from the UK, Smeltink has been pushing sound much unlike his contemporaries. Once nicely fit into the lo-fi-jazz-beat crossover culture of the mid-2010’s, On-Ly has wound back the decades. The crossover has shifted to the axil of genre more aligned with groove, hard-hitting-pockets, funk, latin, psychedelia: an angular, modern fusion of jazz and its sub-genres. Smeltink’s playing style has led to performances as sideman at renowned venue’s Ronnie Scott’s (UK), Phoenix Central Park (SYD) and awarded him opportunities to work with many local heroes, notably Horatio Luna and Sui Zhen, and most recently to join Tenderlonius (UK) & Jaubi on the leg of their Australian tour. The band comprises of Daniel Waddingham on guitar, Joshua Manusama on bass, Damien Ellis on drums and Joshua Smeltink (On-Ly) on Fender Rhodes Piano & Synths.
