20,000 Roads: A Gram Parsons Tribute

Gram Parsons died on September 19th 1973 at the Joshua Tree Inn at the age of just 26.

In his short lifetime he created many memorable tunes with legendary bands such as The Byrds and their album Sweetheart Of The Rodeo and as a founding member of the The Flying Burrito Brothers.

Finally there was his two solo albums G.P. and Grievous Angel, both made with Emmylou Harris. Called upon to describe his music, Parsons called it “Cosmic American Music”

To mark the 50th anniversary of his passing, a huge array of local Melbourne musicians are putting on a show called "20,000 Roads: A Gram Parsons Tribute" at The Brunswick Ballroom on Sunday September 17, 2023 and will be celebrating the Cosmic Cowboy himself.

Introduced by Myles O’Neil-Shaw (5 Feet High & Rising, PBS) and MC’d by Ben Mastwyk, playing on the night will be a star studded line up of local artists including The Dusty Millers, Loretta Miller, The Weeping Willows, Matt Walker, Luke Sinclair, Matt Joe Gow, Georgia Delves, Patrick Wilson, Hana Brenecki and Charlotte Le Lievre.

You’ll be able to join in and sing along to his timeless classics and enjoy hearing some lesser-known gems. Adding to the magic, the house band for the night will be none other than James Ellis & The Jealous Guys, who will infuse their own unique style into the tribute.

This will be an unforgettable night of wonderful songs and performances where fans and musicians alike will unite to celebrate the enduring spirit of a true visionary. Grab your cowboy boots, gather your friends, and be part of this captivating evening.
