Singer-songwriter Georgia Fields celebrates the release of her highly-anticipated third studio album, Hiraeth, with a full-band show at the Brunswick Ballroom. The magnetic art-pop alchemist and her ensemble of multi-instrumentalists will perform the new album plus a handful of reworked favourites from her previous releases.

Produced by Josh Barber (Gretta Ray; Gotye), Hiraeth takes its title from a Welsh word with no direct translation, referring to a profound yearning for the lost places of your past. Fields’ distinctive vocal brings to mind the piercing, understated clarity of Feist and the shoulders-back power-stance of Sharon van Etten. From songs about motherhood, infidelity and death, to rapturous anthems of healing and home – at its core, Hiraeth is an ode to the many languages of longing.

The album arrives Thursday 17 November, following hot on the heels of four celebrated single releases this year. The latest of which is Tigress: a slow-building, fierce-hearted alt-pop cut that opens with a haunting howl and a vast, propulsive rhythm. The track is accompanied by a dreamy, atmospheric music video, directed by Naomi Pattuwage (Heaps Stoked Productions), and featuring contemporary dance performances by rising stars Nikki Tarling and Liat Kedem.

This special hometown band show kicks off a national tour that extends throughout November and December. Fields says: “writing and recording the album has been quite an internal process. So I’m really looking forward to sharing Hiraeth with the world, singing these songs live and seeing how they connect with people. It’s a vulnerable feeling, but also quite joyful.”

Hiraeth is released on all streaming platforms, Thursday 17 November.
