GARFISH
A dedicated meditation on the instrumental style pioneered by old world Jamaican masters such as Sly and Robbie, Jackie Mittoo, Tommy McCook, Ernest Ranglin and The Skatalites, where jazz language meets the rhythms of Kingston Jamaica. Garfish have embraced and nurtured this musical heritage, showcasing the talents of some of Sydney’s most innovative and groovy musicians stretching out over hypnotic reggae beats.
For this very special, one off performance, Garfish will be joined by two of the greats, Tony Hughes and Ras Roni.
Tony Hughes
Lead singer and founding member of the renowned Australian reggae/rocksteady band King Tide, Tony has left an indelible mark on the country's music scene through his undeniable talents as a musician and songwriter. Born with a deep passion for music and a magnetic connection to the ocean, Tony's musical journey is one that encapsulates the essence of Australian coastal culture.
Ras Roni
Lead singer for The Strides, Barbados born vocalist and song writer Ras Roni is undeniably one of Australia’s most unique and prolific artists. He’s been burning the fire for reggae music and social justice in the country since 1979, performing at many of Australia’s most renowned festivals, including Rock Against Racism, Splendour in the Grass, Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, WomeADelaide, Sydney Festival, Kuranda Roots, Island Vibes and Caloundra Music Festival as well as opening up for the likes of Julian Marly, Tony Allen and Third World.
