Frank Jones – Twice Round the Moon

Celebrating 50 years of songwriting, and after decade-long hiatus from recording, Twice Round the Moon marks Frank Jones’ long-awaited return to the studio. Twice Round the Moon is an album full of Frank’s finely crafted songs and tunes, songs of wit, joy, character and hope.

A founding member of the legendary Whirling Furphies, Frank penned Melbourne’s iconic anthem, My Brown Yarra, one of the great songs about Naarm, Melbourne. His lifetime of cross-genre songwriting has produced six outstanding albums of his own and a multitude of songs written for and co-written with other artists.

Frank is the winner of the Lawson Paterson Songwriters’ Award (Port Fairy Folk Festival), two Labour Day Song Awards, an Apollo Bay Music Festival Song Award and an Australian Songwriters’ Award – first prize.

His songs have been nominated for the 2013 ARIA Song of the Year, 2013 APRA urban Song of the year and APRA Most Played Australian Work of the Year, reaching Number 8 on the 2011 JJJ Hottest 100.

Frank’s songs have been covered and recorded by artists ranging from Margret RoadKnight, Renee Geyer, John McAuslan, Kavisha Mazzella to rappers 360 and G-Eazy.

An all-star band of our finest musicians will be on stage with Frank to help celebrate the release of Twice Round the Moon.

Support act for the gig will be Jonesing – a wonderful new songwriter on the Naarm scene performing her acclaimed ethereal, celtic-influenced art-pop songs.
