Every now & again, an extraordinary artist comes along that takes the world by storm, however, the person behind it rarely comes with the talent & knowledge of some of the biggest in the scene. Fish56Octagon embodies the essence of a true DJ sensation. Hailing from an undisclosed location somewhere in the UK, Fish56Octagon is exactly what the electronic music world needs right now; a great DJ playing great music. A walking encyclopedia of all things house, trance, garage, drum & bass, hardcore and everything in between, this DJ defines ‘taking you on a journey’ during his extended sets. Whilst you may only have heard of Fish56Octagon recently, this is an artist who has been honing his craft for years and is now ready to shine.
Born out of a fateful encounter with an episode of "Inspector Morse," where the illegal rave scene served as both inspiration and revelation, Fish56Octagon's passion for electronic music ignited at the tender age of 12. Armed with makeshift DJ gear salvaged from his parents' attic, he quickly mastered the art of beatmatching and discovered his passion for playing music to captivated audiences. Hardcore was his first love, sparked by a free XL Records DJ Mag cassette cover mount mix by Liam Howlett of the Prodigy, featuring tracks like Flowmasters' "Let it Take Control" and Jonny L's "Ansafone," he was hooked. In 1994, when hardcore became too bouncy, house music took the reins and shortly after that, it was all about garage. The tides changed over the next few years as trance, prog house, deep house and tech house all started to hold a place in his heart, with every genre influencing both his record collection and his raving experiences. From entering Club UK in Wandsworth under a fake ID at the age of 15 to witness Danny Rampling in action to his first time seeing the spider breathe fire at the infamous Arcadia Stage at Glastonbury during a Stanton Warriors set, Fish56Octagon has had more memorable raves than most people could dream of.
With over 25 trips to Ibiza under his belt, Fish56Octagon has witnessed the world's top DJs in action, with Welsh DJ Sasha holding a special place in his heart. In fact, he (not so) inadvertently called his first child Sasha to cement that admiration. His relationship with vinyl records is a story in itself as in 2005, as the world went digital, he sold off the majority of his collection. Jump forward to 2022 and with the added help of a 0% credit card, he slowly rebought his collection. His collection now stands at almost 2000 records across multiple genres and it's growing daily as world-renowned artists are now sending exclusive dubplates and releases before they’re available to the general public. This, of course, is all thanks to his unstoppable force on social media, which at times has been growing at a rate of 10,000 followers a day. Currently sittng at over half a million followers across Instagram & TikTok, Fish56Octagon is a force to be reckoned with. From initially posting about his love of performance cars, he noticed a spike in interest when he talked about his life as a raver, dance music lover, record collector, and music producer.
Enter… the infamous dressing gown! Rejected by 2 members of his family for being too hot & heavy, he decided to throw on it whilst eating his dry Weetabix, wearing Crocs and playing nothing but good music to his followers on his social media. Eye-catching content, that pulls you in visually but then hooks you audibly. A simple formula! There’s never been a man with this much musical knowledge, showing the world his love of electronic music, all whilst wearing a dressing gown in his living room. This content has amassed over 4 million views a week, with a global fanbase across all ages propelling him into the spotlight of the digital realm. His talents don’t end here, as a frighteningly large back catalogue of unfinished music is waiting to be unleashed to the world. Having produced music since the late 90’s, it’s time for these tracks to get those all-important finishing touches and they’ll be in your ears soon enough. Trust us, they’re worth the wait.
His FishTales concept is set to take 2024 over with the first event at Hidden Nightclub in Manchester selling out weeks in advance and the subsequent dates announced so far following suit. He’ll be taking this concept all over the UK with dates set for Leeds, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Brighton, with more dates being added daily. Epic 3-6 hour sets take you through the genres with increased BPM and energy as the night progresses. We’ve all seen DJs do ‘all night long’ sets, but no one will take you through the history of dance music like FishTales will. Expect to hear forgotten gems from important eras in dance music mixed in with iconic tracks everyone knows & loves. The festival circuit will be gettng a slice of the action too as he’s set to appear at legendary festivals such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, Parklife plus many more. As Fish56Octagon continues to push the boundaries of electronic music and inspire others to follow their dreams, his story serves as a reminder of the transformative power of passion and perseverance in the ever-evolving landscape of music and media.
Come dive into the musical depths with Fish56Octagon, and you'll discover a world of endless possibilities. You’ll not regret it.
