Ebony Emili 'Can You Hear Me Now' Launch Show
With More Colour, Stormy Lou & Dulcie
She’s back with another toe-tapping tune! Ebony Emili has whipped up a catchy track to help us understand some of the emotions and experiences that people with anxiety face day to day. “What I love the most about this track is that the catchy tune and instrumental is a mask for deep and vulnerable lyrics. Down to the cover art and title ofthe song, I’m really trying to stress the feeling that no one is listening during the hard yards, but everyone is happy to acknowledge the surface level good stuff.” – Ebony explains. Especially throughout the trying times COVID has brought us, worrying about social standing and spending time alone is all to valid. Ebony expresses these themeswith relatable imagery in her new track “Can You Hear Me Now?”.
Since her debut release in August of 2020, Ebony Emili has been brushing shoulders with some of Adelaide’s established talents like Jess Johns, Larsen, Agapanther, members of Teenage Joans, Mum Friends, Rose Clouseau and more!
The release of “Can You Hear Me Now?” is a safety net for anyone feeling unsettled in their own skin and is an opportunity for Ebony to relay common emotions with listeners that often feel alien and burdened.
The funky bass line and driving beat of the drums against the lo-fi horn sounds creates the perfect bed for Ebony’s vocals to lay over. The addition of crunchy spoken samples such as “is there a problem? – no, I’m Just thinking” and “we’re better than you and you suck!” build onto the meaning of the song with relevant input to build on perspective.
You’ll be hitting repeat again and again.
