Heavy music fans in Australia are set for yet another treat this year with Destroy Music a festival headlined by The Amity Affliction and a recently reformed I Killed the Prom Queen. The undercard is just as unrelenting, featuring Deez Nuts and US band Of Mice and Men.
For
The Amity Affliction, Destroy Music marks the bands first Australian capital
cities headline tour since hitting the road last July on the back of their
sophomore release Youngbloods.
Since
then they have notched up two UK tours, a mainland European run and returned
home to play to tens of thousands of people on the recently completed Soundwave
Festival, where they turned heads as the Australian heroes on a 70 band bill.
Theyve scored a #6 ARIA debut, multiple magazine covers, topped almost every
heavy music poll, had Triple J singles and garnered ARIA and AIR nominations for
Youngbloods. The Amity Affliction juggernaut is showing no sign of slowing down
either. In March and April they will embark on their first ever US tour, taking
in close to 40 dates, including SXSW, before returning to Australian shores for
Destroy Music.
I
Killed The Prom Queen spearheaded the Australian hardcore and heavy music scene
in the early 2000s with their high-octane brand of metalcore. The announcement
that I Killed The Prom Queen would disband in 2007 came at the height of the
bands career, and their 2008 Say Goodbye tour was a massive success. Nowadays
band members play in Bring Me The Horizon, Deez Nuts and In Trenches, and remain
influential members of the worldwide hardcore scene.
I
Killed the Prom Queen drummer JJ Peters will be doubling on the shows, reprising
his role of frontman for his current (and similarly influential) band Deez Nuts,
who have become a hit of their own with their own brand of New York hardcore
with a heavy dose of hip hop and punk rock aggression. Deez Nuts have spent most
of the last 8 months touring overseas in support of their second album "This
One's For You", which came out in June via Roadrunner
Records.
Rounding
out the bill is US metalcore act Of Mice and Men, playing for the first time on
Australian soil. Of Mice and Men will spend the coming months headlining
American stages, with The Amity Affliction in support.
