In March this year Darren Hanlon released his 6th studio album Life Tax. It proved to be his most pared down effort to date, full of lyrically dense narrative tales and emotional love songs. A review in the Australian put it like this: Even in a long-form setting, Hanlon remains a master of emotional shorthand.
In support of this release Hanlon dove into a year of touring, his busiest in many years. With his new live band made up of musicians from the album itself he did a lap of Australian before jetting off on two separate tours of Europe. These included a support run with his old buddies the Magnetic Fields and an appearance at lauded UK festival End of the Road.
Now he will cap off the year in usual fashion with a series of solo shows around Australia leading up to Christmas. It'll be business as usual, with Hanlon playing a selection of songs from his ever-growing catalog and possibly a surprise special guest to sing some duets with him. He'll be appearing at the Brunswick Ballroom on Wednesday the 14th December.
With special guests: The VoVos
*please note that Claire Anne Taylor will no longer be performing as part of the line up.
