Jazz, funk, samba and up-tempo swing

Join talented Sydney musician and singer Charlie Chech to launch his debut EP ‘Checkmate’. 

Recorded and produced at Sydney’s renowned Studios 301, ‘Checkmate’ features five carefully curated and rearranged classic tunes which combine a blend of jazz, funk, samba and up-tempo swing.

These include ‘Summer Wind’ made famous by Frank Sinatra, ‘Your Latest Trick’ by Dire Straits, Billy Joel’s ‘New York State of Mind’ and ‘Almost Like Being In Love’ made famous by Nat King Cole.

The EP features the genius of producer/arranger and musician Clive Lendich. Clive (featuring on guitar) is joined by leading Australian musicians David Pritchard-Blunt on piano, Hugh Fraser on bass, Mitch Farmer on drums and Graham Jesse on saxophone. 'Checkmate' includes the Bonus Track 'Speak Softly Love', produced at Sony Australia under the guise of leading Australian Musical Theatre extraordinaire and Creative Director Peter Cousens and esteemed composer Steve Barry.

Charlie’s launch party and show will feature a captivating live performance of all tracks from his EP and many more classics like Come Fly With Me, That’s Life and Mack the Knife.

Charlie is a passionate musician and singer who pays homage to legends such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin and modern crooners such as Michael Bublé, Harry Connick Jnr and Diana Krall.

With sold-out performances at many distinguished venues, Charlie's resonant bass voice captivates audiences far and wide. Charlie recently sold out his third headline show at Hornsby RSL Club -- as one of the youngest performers the club has featured, an extraordinary feat!

Charlie has also featured on TV, more recently seen on the 7.30 Report, the Today Show and Australian Idol. 

Charlie was in the 2022 Graduating Class of the prestigious Talent Development Project (TDP), Australia's most successful and elite training and development program in the music and entertainment industry. Mentored and led by award-winning actor, singer, producer and director Peter Cousens AM, TDP graduates have included Sam Fisher, John Foreman OAM, and more.

In February 2020, Charlie had the pleasure of singing with International Grammy Award winner and music sensation Michael Bublé during his Australian tour in Sydney. Definitely a highlight of his musical career so far and one which Charlie will hold dear to his heart forever!
