Hailing from the very heart of Australia, the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir are drawn from 7 remote communities of Australia’s vast central desert. They sing in English as well as Western Arrarnta and Pitjantjatjara, two living languages of the Northern Territory and South Australia.
Led by Choir Master Morris Stuart, this extraordinary vocal ensemble first came to popular attention following the broadcast of ABC TVs Australian Story The Choir Master and the feature length documentary, The Song Keepers.
Most recently the Choir were a central part of the ABC’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Seeing and hearing the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir in one of their rare public performances is a totally unforgettable and moving experience, as they share their culture, wisdom and knowledge through song and ceremony.
