From the road less travelled, songwriter Carla Geneve has wracked up a collection of accoladesfor her writing and performing. 7 West Australian song of the year prizes, a Vanda and YoungInternational songwriting prize, as an Australian Music prize nomination for her latest album ‘Learnto Like It’ sit on her shelf as well as various mementoes, boarding passes,figurines and postcardsfrom touring relentlessly since she turned 18.

But none of that really matters. What matters are the songs. Songs of defiance, resilience, andforgiveness. Songs that grapple with the rocky terrain inherent with navigating human existence,all delivered with a wide eyed clarity and precision of expression that has long been an imitabletrademark of Carla’s work. Some of these songs from her upcoming sophomore album, and somehave already connected through stereos and stages, providing a balm to sooth the confusion of apost-truth world.
