To celebrate the announce of their next single ’Til I Say So ft. Betty, Barley Passable are excited to announce a headline show on the 23rd of December at Oxford Art Factory Gallery Bar. It will be the band’s first show since selling out their debut headline show in July. Fusing loud, distorted bass moments with slinky Nile Rogers-esque guitar lines and disco beats, the band put on a show that is not to be missed.
This show caps off an end of year run which will see Barley Passable performing at Byron Bay Beach Hotel on the 24th and 29th of November, then making an appearance on the Sunsets Festival on December 3rd.
'Til I Say So is our first step into the world of collaboration in music. Every few months we have a bit of a goal word that grounds us and pushes us in the direction we want to go in, and really for this whole year the word 'collaboration' has been right there at the top. 'Til I Say So' is about love and having to wait for it. Touching on both the good and the bad of this where you are knowingly trapped by someone because of how strongly you feel for them and you know that you will let them do/get away with anything even if you have to wait forever to be with them. A story that hopefully shows the beauty of love but also how sometimes it can be manipulative and a little bit dark.
Always on the hunt for pleasure ,and determined to find it no matter the cost, Barley Passable make music for mood, movement and mayhem. Effortlessly traversing their way between 70s Disco, 80s New Wave, Early 00s Dance and Modern French Pop, Barley Passable are here in a world of rules to let you do what you want, when you want and how you want. Both Kai (guitars and vocals) and Davy (keys and vocals) share production duties, a skill they self learned after they met at Music University and bonded over their inadequate results in their Jazz studies.
Whilst studying is in their past, the musicality and instrumental skill they learned coupled with their own individual musical history is engrained in each and every BP hit. The ability to create detailed groove music for all occasions has led to critical acclaim from Radio, Magazines and Blogs both in their home country of Australia and overseas. A collaborative creative vision drives Barley Passable - with Fashion, Film and Urban Design melding with their music to create a truly amazing experience for the listener. Simply by listening, you can join Barley Passable on your path to pleasure.
Barley Passable have had a big 12 months with selling out their first headline show ever, Picking up both Triple J and FBI play on their releases, supporting both Telenova and Mickey Kojack on Sydney shows, and performing White Claw Events.
