DAY FOUR: THE STORY OF A STATION
🐑 Day 4: Charlotte Plains
📅 Tuesday 16 April 2024
🌟Featuring Troy Cassar-Daley & Loren Ryan
Our fourth stop invites you and your fellow trail-goers to Charlotte Plains in Cunnamulla, a cherished family-owned and operated sheep station with a century-long legacy. Feel the warmth of a heartfelt welcome from owner Robyn Russell and her family as we gather for an intimate storytelling experience. Here, we'll tip our Akubra's to the spirited outback tales that define the heart and soul of Charlotte Plains.
Honouring the cherished traditions of famed bush poets and local yarn spinners, a talented selection of local storytellers will captivate us with timeless tales, giving voice to the rich history of this remarkable station.
To complement the narratives, we've rounded up a musical lineup featuring some of our country's greatest musical storytellers. Taking centre stage is country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley, a proud Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung man. Holding a record number of Golden Guitar Awards, Troy has been serenading audiences and sharing stories for over three decades, firmly establishing himself as one of Australia's most esteemed artists. Joining him to set the stage ablaze is the rising country star, Loren Ryan.
For those seeking culinary delights, you can step away from the camp barbie tonight, as an array of food trucks will be on-site, serving up delicious eats.
While the main event commences at 4pm at the Bore Campsite, the Russell Family invites trail-goers to the station all year round. To enhance your experience, consider arriving in Charlotte Plains from Monday onwards and savour an extra night of tranquillity before the festivities begin.
Wellness enthusiasts can take some time to relax and unwind by enjoying a Hot Artesian Bath at the Bore Campsite, or book a Private Bathing Experience, a short 10km drive away.
For nature lovers, the site is teeming with birdlife! Get up to speed on what you might find by checking out the legend of local birds on the map at Bore Camp, then hit the road with the binoculars to try and spot them all.
For those seeking something a little more unique, participate in Animal Feeding or delve into the rich tapestry of the family’s history.
This event is family friendly, all ages. Alcohol can be purchased from the bars and must be consumed within the licensed area.
