Brisbane’s melancholic pop masters Ball Park Music are joining the Great Southern Nights line-up and will be bringing their live show to Hotel Brunswick for one night only! Their inventiveness is akin to that of UK supergroup Superorganism’s playful collaboration; the Avalanches’ ability to synchronise diverse genres, and Elliott Smith’s knack for carrying sadness with an honest wit.
It has been a tremendous journey since the five-piece formed in 2008 while studying music at university. In ten years, they’ve produced seven albums – the last six having consecutively debuted in the top 10 of the ARIA charts. The band continue to sell out bigger venues each time they tour and regularly appear on the Australian festival circuit, including Falls Festival, Groovin’ The Moo and Splendour in the Grass.
Ball Park Music’s latest album ‘Weirder & Weirder’ is the band’s third record to debut at #2 on the ARIA Charts, and is the 2nd album to be released under Prawn Records. The five-piece indie rock group took their new record on the road around Australia and celebrated their 500th live show with their biggest performance in Sydney at the Hordern Pavilion, making 2022 a highly memorable year for the band.
Kicking off 2023 with ‘Stars In My Eyes’ reaching top 10 of triple j’s Hottest 100, and selling out nearly every show on the ‘Get The F**king Nerds Back On!’ national tour, Ball Park Music is truly proving themselves as one of Australia’s biggest bands of the last 10 years with an incredible catalogue of songs that have soundtracked so many lives.
Great Southern Nights 2024 will take place from 8-24 March 2024 featuring more than 300 gigs across 17 nights throughout Sydney’s inner city and Western Sydney, as well as shows in seven key music communities across NSW, including Tamworth, Wagga, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Northern Rivers.
