The Australian Folk Music Awards- AFMAs are a project of Folk Alliance Australia established to recognise and celebrate the musical and cultural talent, vibrancy, diversity and unique community nature of the Australian Folk Music sector.

This is the fifth year the FAA have presented the awards and the third to take place in the Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne. Awards are made in eleven categories and are voted on by expert panels from around the nation.

The AFMA’s will be presented on WEDNESDAY 23rd OCTOBER 2024 at 7.30pm EST at the Brunswick Ballroom, Melbourne as a Live Concert & Awards Night and also as a Live Streamed event. The Awards event will feature a Welcome to Country, live music performances, awards finalists and winners presentations, guest interstate artists and will be hosted by leading folk identities.

Two new categories have been introduced in 2024; an award for the best debut Folk album of the year and best Folk act of the year for a duo. A full list of categories being presented can be seen on the FAA website. https://www.folkalliance.org.au/afmas/#afmas-categories
