Yeah That Agency presents
ALT.+ WOLF & CHAIN with Special Guests
Destroy All Lines and Yeah That Agency are proud to present Alt. & Wolf & Chains double single launch for 'Devils Cut' and 'Taste Of Blood' at Jive Bar on August 27th with special guests Chelsea Manor and Sign/vls
Alt. is Dan Richards (vocals), Simon Aistrope (guitar), Daniel Wells-Smith (guitar), and Declan Fry (drums) from Adelaide, Australia.
Alt. emerged in December 2019, with the drop of their first single, insubordinate, on the Dreambound YouTube channel. The next three music videos for ‘Chasing Safety’, ‘Nothingwithoutyou’ and ‘Pariah’ have also been featured on Dreambound to a massive reception gathering over 200,000 views since all singles were released
The anticipated debut EP ‘dysfunctional’ was released independently by alt. in April 2020; written with the help of Trenton Woodley (Hands Like Houses) Jimmy Alexander and Luke McKenzie (Awaken I Am), Zachary Brit (Young Lions, Dream on Dreamer), and Chris Lalic (Windwaker); produced at Avalanche Studios by Callan Orr (Dream on Dreamer, Young Lions, Bad/Love). Since it’s release the band have clocked over a million streams for the record as well as being featured on Spotify Editorial Playlist ‘Rock Out’ as the front cover. December 2020 saw the band finally perform their debut EP live to fans in Adelaide after nearly a year off stage due to covid which saw large audiences gather to witness this performance.
Somehow both fresh and nostalgic, their sound has been compared to Deftones, Bring Me The Horizon, Hands Like Houses, and YONAKA. This sound has led to bands like Belle Haven and Bad/Love both inviting the band to perform on their respective national tours in 2021, leaving audiences amazed by the unique performance of Alt. on stage.

2021 has already been an interesting year on reaching new milestones from national touring to the band successfully selling out their first pressing of ‘Dysfunctional’ on vinyl within 24 hours back in May. With new music on the horizon there are no signs of Alt. slowing down any time soon.
With sharpened claws and a renewed taste for danger, Adelaide’s theatrical emo/ pop punk act Wolf & Chain return with a vampiric new single ‘Taste of Blood’ and its engrossing music video accompaniment. With their rock-opera narratives, goth-inspired aesthetics and addictive emo-punk dynamism, Wolf & Chain have been rapidly expanding their cult following since the release of debut EP ‘An Honest Mistake’ in 2020. Now, ‘Taste of Blood’ oozes with unease from the first ominous strum of the guitar as frontman Jack Cumes’ distinctive vocal tone gasps and growls. Suspense builds as the song remains stripped-back and bare, interwoven with spine-chilling notes of piano and choir harmonies. Suddenly, the track erupts post-chorus with racing drums, moreish punk-infused guitars and the disconcertingly sweet ping of a glockenspiel.
Leaching off this high-octane energy, the song dips briefly to make way for a distorted vocal in the chorus before gushing with quintessential punk-rock progressions in the bridge. Waging a battle between the irresistible hype of a thrashing instrumental, the pull of heavily serrated riffs and the desperately screaming vocals of the frontman, the track ends in a three-way tie. Celebrated for their dramatic narratives and compelling emo-goth influences, Wolf & Chain submit to their darkest urges in ‘Taste of Blood’, further explored in their music video which will have vampire pop-culture fans licking their lips.
Like a scene out of True Blood, the video is set at a vampire bar, with the vampiric band performing on stage as patrons drink from human blood bags and partake in a violent bar fight. Closing the video out, frontman Jack Cumes is tied up by one of the gangs and he is thrown in the boot begging the question, is this just the beginning of an unfolding narrative? Written about love turning someone into a monster, Cumes further explains the meaning behind the track:
“Vampires feel like such an appropriate metaphor for this concept of deadly love. Those feelings can often leave you craving them, feeling withdrawals and not sleeping at night. Often romanticised as the idea of spending eternity in love, ‘Taste of Blood’ portrays this concept with a darker tone. What appears to be a tall, dark, brooding stranger with inexplicable feelings of love is actually a bloodthirsty stalker who will do anything to have you as their own forever.”
The band’s previous releases have received widespread support from Don’t Bore Us, Wall of Sound, Hysteria Mag, Heavy Mag, Dead Press (UK), AU Review, AAA Backstage, Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, Triple M and The Faction.
This is a show not to be missed from some of Adelaide's biggest up and coming acts.
