POWDERFINGER SET TO ROCK THE ARIA AWARDS ONE LAST TIME!
ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) is delighted to announce that POWDERFINGER, Australias biggest band, are set to rock the house at the 2010 ARIA Awards for the very last time next Sunday.
In what will be their FINAL live performance on Australian television, the fab five will cap off a phenomenal year by treating Australian music fans and industry peers to one last hurrah. In what will surely be a show stopping moment, POWDERFINGER are set to deliver one last blast of the trademark sound that has made them a much loved part of the Australian music landscape.
Pop singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who recently gave birth to her first child, will make a rare appearance as co-host at the ARIA Awards. Currently taking some time out from music duties, Natalie dedicated her most recent single, Love Like This, to celebrate the Wear it with Pride campaign and will give all of her profits from the single, to the ongoing support of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.
Joining Natalie as the nights co-host is Video Hits and Nova 100 presenter, Dylan Lewis. An avid music fan and musician himself, Dylan first came to prominence as host of ABC TVs Saturday morning music-fest, Recovery, and joined Video Hits at the beginning of 2010.
Adelaide born, New York based pop sensation Sia will bring her quirky, upbeat sound to the ARIA Awards stage in a rare Australian television performance. Scoring six nominations for her sensational album We Are Born (including nominations for ALBUM OF THE YEAR and SINGLE OF THE YEAR), expect the unexpected when this offbeat, talented singer / songwriter hits the stage. Clap your hands indeed!
Theyre the hottest duo in the country and now the heavily nominated Angus & Julia Stone are set to bring their folk / pop magic to the 2010 ARIA Awards stage in a special performance. Nominated for six ARIA Awards, including the coveted ALBUM OF THE YEAR for their second album Down The Way, get set for gorgeous harmonies set against a background of faraway guitar and strings.
Also performing at the 2010 ARIA Awards is multiple nominee, John Butler Trio. Performing material from the number one album April Uprising, the band will bring the trademark electric, spontaneous energy that makes them such an entertaining live act. With five nominations under their belt including a nod in the BEST MALE ARTIST category for leader John Butler, this trio is set to kick major musical butt when they hit the ARIA Awards stage.
Super star on the rise Washington will perform at the 2010 ARIA Awards. Her debut album, I Believe You Liar, has impressed music fans and the ARIA voting academy alike - to the tune of six nominations (including SINGLE OF THE YEAR and ALBUM OF THE YEAR). With her clever, piano led pop music and brilliant vocal range be prepared to be dazzled by the brilliance of singer/songwriter Washington.
Rounding out this first performer announcement is West Australias very own Birds of Tokyo recently home from a sold out national theatre tour. The Perth quartet recorded their self titled, third album between Sydney, London, Gothenburg and New York. The band gave themselves the most surreal and inspiring recording experience and the results have scored them six nominations including nods in the categories of BEST ROCK ALBUM, SINGLE OF THE YEAR and BEST GROUP.
Taking on DJ duties, both on air and for the audience at the 2010 ARIA Awards, is sister act Nervo. Currently based in the UK and New York, the super talented Liv and Mim Nervo are constantly writing/producing/DJing all across the globe. On the songwriting front Nervo have more recently written and vocally produced Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) for ARIA nominee Kylie Minogue. They also wrote and vocally produced David Guettas Grammy Award winning single featuring Kelly Rowland, When Love Takes Over. With extensive songwriting and production credits under their belt and their own music career on the rise, their appearance at the ARIA Awards will be one sweet homecoming.
Australian actress, writer, and stand-up comedienne Rebel Wilson will add a presenting role at the 2010 ARIA Awards to her extensive CV. Known for her roles in the television series Pizza and Bogan Pride, she is making serious inroads in the US, having been cast in a role in the upcoming Judd Apatow film Bridesmaids. 2010 has been a big year for Rebel - she has guest starred on the CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement and the new Comedy Central series, Workaholics.

With an impressive body of work that encompasses dance, television, film, comedy and theatre, Carmen Electra will also make a special appearance at the 2010 ARIA Awards.

Australian music fans will be given the first ever opportunity to determine who will take home these Publicly Voted ARIA Awards presented by V Energy Drink. The winners of these four Awards, as determined by Australian music fans, will be announced during the telecast for the 2010 ARIA Awards on Sunday, 7 November.
From 14 October, fans can go to www.ariaawards.com.au/venergypopularvoteand cast their vote to determine the first ever Popular Voted ARIA Awards across all four categories. You can also vote from www.facebook.com/venergyoz or www.facebook.com/aria.official.
The first round of voting finishes on Thursday, 28 October, with the final 5 nominations in each category announced on Sunday, 31 October and everyone gets a second chance to vote one last time up until 11:59pm on Saturday, 6 November with the winner announced at the ARIAs on Sunday, 7 November.
