The Melodrones are a fuzz laden, alternative doo-wop, five-piece formed on Gadigal and Dharug land in Sydney, New South Wales. The group found their sound by pairing Motown inspired songwriting with post-punk production, creating their own unique sonic landscape in the Australian scene. The Melodrones combine the chaotic production of post-punk groups like The Jesus and Mary Chain / Pixies with the songwriting and sha la la's of 50s R’n’R and Motown music. There’s always a nod to The Beatles somewhere. We love Suicide and The Ronettes, Flying Nun Records, Creation Records, the CBGBs scene and the type of bands John Peel would play.
