This jewel in our season’s crown shines even brighter this year, thanks to prizemoney doubled to $3 million for the coveted Group 1 The Star Stradbroke Handicap and total value across the nine-race card of nearly $6.6 million.

The Star Stradbroke is one of Australia’s great handicap races and the increase in prizemoney is reflective of its place on the national stage. Last year, Alligator Blood and Private Eye came away to run 1-2 before going on to great success in the spring. The Star Stradbroke Day also sees the running of the Group 2 $1.2 million Q22, Group 2 $400,000 XXXX Brisbane Cup and the Group 1 $1 million Ladbrokes J.J. Atkins, a race where a future superstar of the turf is often born.
