WAT Artists and PBSFM are thrilled to bring the Sun Ra Arkestra back to Australia this March for an intergalactic national tour.
As one of the most important living musical institutions in the world, the Sun Ra Arkestra has been spreading its Afro-futuristic jazz message for 66 years, continuing the cosmic jazz heritage of the mythical pianist, composer, and electronic music pioneer Sun Ra.
Few bands have travelled this far – both cosmically and musically.
The Sun Ra Arkestra is renowned worldwide for its live shows that combine big-band swing, space-age free jazz, bebop, singing, dancing, chanting, and Afro-pageantry. The Arkestra has been at the forefront of Afro-futurism since its inception.
If you've seen them before, you know this is a show not to miss. If you haven't seen them, don't sleep! Come listen to the cosmic altar destiny music of the future.
“The possible has been tried and failed. Now it’s time to try the impossible.” - Sun Ra
Space is the place!
We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
