BRUNSWICK ARTISTS' BAR // DOORS 8PM // SHOW 9PM
Rapture, rebirth and kaleidoscopic desert dreamscapes etched across the undersides of her eyelids. Music so relentlessly affecting could only be born of one thing: Ruby Jones’ willingness to take communion with the ghosts of her past.
After the release of her long awaited debut album The Woman Who Loves You join Ruby Jones and her full band for an intimate show at the Brunswick Artists bar where she will preview new works for their upcoming second album.
Blending Jones’ searing vocals and a traditional rock instrumentation with the kind of washed out, psychedelia-steeped sonic palette that pulls the heat from your fingertips, Jones’ tempestuous brand of bliss is uniquely her own. If Mazzy Star, Angel Olsen and Jefferson Airplane found themselves holed up in a West Californian dive bar, perhaps we’d be some way to understanding the complex, subliminal beauty of what Jones and her bandmates have crafted.
“There’s so much feeling in Jones’ voice, in her lyrical candour and the genuineness with which she addresses listeners, it’s as if we are part of the stories. As if we have lived these tales, too.” - Cat Woods for Audio Femmme
“The HAIM sisters breaking into strut lamenting heartbreak and loss, while Angie McMahon plays through a beat up ute's stereo.” - Dave Ruby Howe Triple J
