Masterful jazz and time-honed talent
Canberra’s Wayne Kelly brings his hard-swinging trio to SIMA’s Summer Festival.
Having played with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Rodney Whitaker and Roy Hargrove, Wayne’s heavy-weight rhythm section features National Jazz Award-winner Brendon Clarke and king of swing, prolific drummer Andrew Dickeson.
Drawing on Kelly’s thirty years of experience and fresh inquiry, expect swinging standards and the spice of Afro-Cuban rhythms.
In equal mastery, long-time collaborators award-winning pianist Matt McMahon and guitarist Carl Dewhurst present new material from their duo project ‘Trapeze For Two Atoms’ in an enlightening journey that traverses jazz and folk idioms, groove-based music and a touch of the avant garde.
