SIMA presents the Jazz:NOW Summer Festival featuring;
Asteroid Ekosystem + Ilex
‘This is one mighty sonic trip that paints colourful pictures in the mind’ - Loudmouth Magazine
The brainchild of shape-shifting pianist Alister Spence, Asteroid Ekosystem is a supergroup for the 21st century featuring pioneering guitarist Ed Kuepper (The Saints, Laughing Clowns), and legendary bassist Lloyd Swanton (The Necks).
With the spontaneity of jazz, the instrumentation and dynamism of rock, and futuristic explorations resembling psychedelic – Asteroid Ekosystem is a progressive musical statement that can’t be restricted by genres or labels.
Opening the night will be ilex - the solo percussion and electronics project from local Holly Conner. Sets feature live and rhythmic drumming, experimental tracks; and beautiful, percussive sound-worlds - music designed to transport and spark the imagination.
