The line-up is out! We are stoked to announce that Ball Park Music and Urthboy will be headlining
UOW's infamous Garden Party in 2017. After last years enormous success we've worked hard to tidy
our lawns and trim the hedges to bring you a party even bigger and better than ever before.
BALL PARK MUSIC just wrapped up their spring tour, banging out their tunes from their latest album
Every Night The Same Dream. We reckon Margy Noble is bang on the money when she says the Ball
Park's album is "unpredictable, heartfelt LP, where you'll fall between progressive psych-rock jams,
indie rock and pop ballads, succumbing to the reverie of what might just be Ball Park Music's best
album yet." The Doctor is one of Ball Park's biggest fans stating "This is a band who are not only
great writers and players, but a band who have trust between members to play the right stuff at the
right time." We can't wait to have Ball Park Music bring their A game to the outdoor stage at UOW's
biggest party of the year.
The line-up keeps on kicking with URTHBOY (Tim Levinson) joining the party. After a break and the
birth of his daughter, Urthboy released his first official single 'Long Loud Hours' feat. Bertie Blackman
in 3 years to rave reviews. After only 2 short months on radio the single was voted in at #33 in the
Triple J Hottest 100 and reached almost 1 millions streams across all platforms. Urthboy is known for
his passionate lyrics and political views that push boundaries and pull in the listeners. His newest
track 'Crushing Hard' is bound to get some bodies moving this Garden Party.
Garden Party fun continues with acts like Tasmanian band Luca Brasi, local act Bec Sandridge, along
with Lanks and Polographia. UOW Band Comp winners Halcyon Reign, round out the line-up for
2017.
LUCA BRASI, are also set to rock out at Garden Party showing why their album 'If This Is All We're
Going To Be' was so loved. They've perfectly married melody, their trademark meandering guitar
lines, big drum sounds and self-examining lyrical content with the foundational punk and rock ideals,
making them a great act for Garden Party.
Local darling, BEC SANDRIDGE, has skyrocketed in the last 6 months with an absolutely stellar year
being heavily played on Triple J and community radio, a myriad of shows including main support for
Montaigne and Cub Sport on their national tours, and a standout appearance at BIGSOUND. This
summer will include appearances at Fairgrounds Festival, Mountain Sounds Festival, Ozfest, supports
for Highasakite and The Rubens and much more. 2017 will be a massive year for Bec Sandridge who
is touring from February and hitting up UOW's Garden Party for a sweet boogie.
Melbourne based LANKS is set to have a huge year, kicking it off on tour with R FUS in 2017. In
unusual style, Lanks' songs evoke folk storytelling within the framework of electronic music. What
links the songs is a natural narrative - drifting between tales of vengeful samurais, desert bandits
and the lonely deep sea, to the suburban mundane - lost love and daydreams of paradise. Lanks is
certain to get the vibes pumping at Garden Party.
Taking a step around the current state of electronic music, POLOGRAPHIA keep it simple with a
natural approach. A live setup comprised of guitar, synthesiser and drum kit finds that perfect
balance of warm ups, peaks and unwinds all rolled into one.
Last but not least we always looking to support grassroots UOW Band Comp winners HALCYON
REIGN will be playing early in the night. Fresh from completing their first recording at Main Street
Studios these guys will be bringing back the love of metal to the party and will blow you away to kick
start the party.
Ultimately, Garden Party in 2017 has a mixed bag of goodies and frankly it is the place you want to
be on March 24th .
