Post-rock trailblazers sleepmakeswaves are still riding high from the success of their epic triple j Like A Version of 'Children' by Robert Miles and have now announced a headlining national tour of Australia for December to wrap up their 60+ date international tour in support of recently released third album 'Made of Breath Only.' Joining them at all shows will be American post-metal juggernauts ROSETTA, returning to Australian shores for the first time in five years, taking place in clubs in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane & Sydney.
Guitarist Otto Wicks-green voiced the band's excitement over these upcoming dates:
"This band started in small clubs around Australia, and it's in rooms these size where we honed our live performances. The intimacy, the intensity, the heat. A visceral and immediate live show is heart and soul of this band, so we were very specific in selecting each of these rooms for this tour. Bringing one of our all time favourite bands, Rosetta, with us is the cherry on the cake.
We're stoked to be bringing out one of the most powerful live acts we've seen on a tour that is more scaled-down and intimate. Rosetta bring a relentless atmospheric catharsis to their shows, and really fit their description 'metal for astronauts'. On top of all that, they're our old friends from tours in 2012 and we can't wait to see their faces again.
These will be special, crushing, intimate performances, so don't sleep on tickets. Come get heavy with us."
Rosetta frontman echoed the band's enthusiasm for their return to Australia:
"We are very excited to be returning to Australia in support of our long time friends, sleepmakeswaves. When we last came to Australia five years ago, we played with SMW in a tiny record store in Perth. We couldn't be more excited to come back and do a whole run together."
sleepmakeswaves have quickly evolved into one of Australia's most exciting and innovative musical exports. Following tours with scene giants such as Karnivool, Cog, Underoath, 65daysofstatic, Opeth and Devin Townsend, the Sydney band's unique instrumental epics and their energetic performances have seen them connect with a diverse and passionate audience of music fans, as well as unprecented ARIA nominations for their albums 'Love of Cartography' and '...and so we destroyed everything.'
'Made of Breath only' is the band's most ambitious record to date. Following a period of intense touring, relationship challenges, illness and set against the scene of a world in upheaval, the record reflects the band's experience of darker emotions, balanced by the unprecedented reception to and joy brought from their musical experiences around the world over the past four years - including 14 Australian tours, 5 European tours, 2 North American tours and 2 sold out tours across Asia.
Recorded with renowned producer Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Powderfinger, Rage Against the Machine) in Byron Bay, the album features a progressive combination of sounds hinted at in lead single 'Tundra' which premiered on triple j. The record at once captures the band's push to challenge and evolve, whilst retaining all the energy, melody and vibe they are known for.
'Made of Breath only' is out now through Bird's Robe Records/MGM.
