"It's nice to find reality and here's a slice of it" Tim Ritchie, ABC Radio National"Just when you are hoping for something to come along that presents fresh angles to the country tradition in the way that Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams and Kasey Chambers manage to do, along comes Sara Tindley." Noel Mengel, The Courier-Mail

With two critically acclaimed and award-winning releases under her belt, Sara Tindley is making quite a mark on the Australian musical landscape. Her latest album, Lucky The Sun, produced by Bill Chambers, is an instant classic.

When Sara fronts her band The Kingfishers, it’s unbeatable rockin’ alt-country, with equal measures of soulful pop. As a songwriter and performer she is one to watch in 2007. Picked as ABC Radio National Breakfast’s Album of The Week (December 2006), Lucky The Sun has an addictive quality that keeps you coming back for more. From the sultry, sassy opening song “Hot For You” to the memorable ballad “True Believer” featuring just Sara and piano, to the haunting “Heart It Was A Desert”, which made the semi finals of the International Songwriting Competition, Lucky The Sun is packed with tracks that sparkle musically and leave a lasting impression lyrically.

While Sara has been compared by music critics to the likes of Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne, Patti Griffin and even Carole King, her style is utterly distinctive, reflective of a life lived passionately and with integrity.   Fresh from her appearance at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay, Sara Tindley and The Kingfishers have now been confirmed as the opening artist on the GW McLennan Theatre at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, also in Byron Bay, on Saturday August 4.

Before Splendour, Sara and the Kingfishers will play Sydney’s Vanguard on Thursday May 17 where Lucky The Sun will have its official national launch. Support act on the night will be Sarah McGregor. This is a must-see show with limited tickets available.   The Kingfishers are: Keys – Will Graheme (Louisville Sluggers), Guitar – George Chrysostomou (Fort), Bass – Hans Lovejoy, Drums – Stu Eadie (Karma County).
