Root Down will be a celebration of Hip Hop Roots & Soul Language. Providing live music and exhibiting stories of the history, expression and energy of true Hip Hop, Funk and Soul origins. Featuring Sampa The Great after her explosive Adelaide debut at Womad, joined by partner in crime Godriguez + local talents Abbey Howlett, Oisima, The 1NE (feat. Dialect & Social Change), Argus and the Liar and the long-awaited return of reggae-funk kings Irie Knights starting the party. These smooth cats will be joined by a large collection of visual artists, screen-printing, beats/drum workshops and street art demonstrations.

For just one evening we will create an historical journey of early jazz, funk, disco and soul and how these movements made such a vibration throughout the early days of Hip Hop world-wide and how this reverberates to this present day.
