Rainbow Chan | 'Spacings' | Melbourne Launch
"To love wholly is to accept that loss is a part of this act. The possibility of a spectacular demise hangs over what we cherish the most. Falling in eventuates in falling out. What remains is a hollow, an indent, a trace. Even between the closest entities lies an insoluble distance. Our intimacies are nestled here like the warmth between our lips before a kiss, or the growing space between us as you leave me."
On her forthcoming debut album Spacings, Rainbow Chan maps out love, loss and everything in between. Set for release on August 26 via Silo Arts & Records, Spacings is set to be one of the year's most bench-setting albums. As one of Australia's most innovative pop artists, Rainbow Chan has set the benchmark with critically acclaimed singles Nest, Lastand Work, gaining continuous support from Pitchfork, The Fader, i-D, triple j and community radio. With a flair for left-of-centre, driving percussion with her own fluttering vocals and tightly worked harmonies, the Sydney via Hong Kong singer/producer has a sound like no other.
Rainbow Chan's upcoming national tour will not only be showcasing brand new material from Spacings, but will be the first for the project as an all female live 3-piece band. Comprising of Rainbow Chan, Moon Holiday & Corin, all established and talented musicians in their own right, the trio reveals unprecedented elements to the live show. Supported by Moon Holiday throughout the tour, as well as special local guests at every show, Rainbow Chan's Australian tour this September is not to be missed.
With supports HTML Flowers & Moon Holiday at Boney from 8:00pm.
