Lucha Fantastica AND Day of the Dead Fiesta - Canberra are proudly present for the very first time in Canberra: LUCHA LIBRE (Mexican Wrestling) WHAT IS LUCHA LIBRE? Spanish for "Free fight" - LUCHA LIBRE is a term used in Mexico for a form of professional wrestling developed in the country.
Mexican wrestling is characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, as well as "high-flying" maneuvers. The wearing of masks has developed special significance, and matches are sometimes contested in which the loser must permanently remove his mask, which is a wager with a high degree of weight attached

On Saturday 4th November the dead will raise to attend to this incredible fight between the forces of good vs evil!
What can you expect...?
Expect Mexican folklore! You will see Luchadores and Enmascarados (masked wrestlers) doing a combination of sport, entertainment and dramatic storytelling all rolled up into a flamboyant display, wild and highly flying insanity.
Expect horrible creatures fighting in the Rudos corner!
Expect a combination of various fighting techniques like wrestling, judo, jujitsu, grappling, kickboxing and boxing. It is a mixture of all these combat art forms blended with the elements of soap opera, dramatic storytelling, physical comedy, incredible athletics, suspense and intrigue.
This is the main night time event of the larger Day of the Dead Fiesta - 2017 - Canberra which runs during the day from 1pm - 8pm @ Ainslie Arts Centre

The LUCHA show will become a spookytacular fiesta by the end of the night with a live band - The New MonoS!
The New MonoS - With their roots in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Melbourne-based band The New Monos combine inspiration from their South American heritage and diverse musical experience with the flavor of contemporary Buenos Aires, mixing Reggae, Folklore, Cumbia, Rock, Rumba, Hip-hop and Latin beats, all expressed with the passion of the Tango.
Lucha Fantastica are a crew of Mexican wrestlers, referees, musicians, DJs, hula hoopists, fire eaters and exotic dancers with over 10 years experience nationally and internationally! A diverse group of Mexican and Australian performing artists who will be in Canberra for the first time as part of Day of the Dead Fiesta - Canberra!
*NOTE* This is an over 18's show - BUT the team from Lucha Fantastica will be doing a All-Ages demonstration during the day on Saturday 4th November as part of the Day of the Dead Fiesta - 2017 - Canberra @ Ainslie Arts Centre
