Walkaboutfish Records is excited to announce that FijianĀborn multi instrumentalist Jay Hoad is bringing his unique show back to our shores for another huge Australian Tour, making his way around country with this one man band extravaganza.
Hoad will be launching his brand new album 'Home Is Where The Heart Is" in Adelaide at the Gov on October 11th with support act Bongo Sistas & Bro.
It's already been a big year for Jay who kicked off the year off in style with performances at the Saarang World Cultural Festival in Chennai, India, followed by the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Victoria and just recently supporting Jeff Martin of "Teaparty". Jay's relentless performance schedule over the past eight years has seen him perform at some of the world's most prestigious live music venues and music festivals throughout the Caribbean, Central and North America, Canada, Southeast Asia, Fiji, India, and Australia. Some of Jay's most recent acclaimed performances include WOMAD, Uprising Festival (Fiji), and of course supporting the Jamaican super group "The Wailers" on their Northeast American Tour.
The high energy show sees Jay sitting in a cockpit of instruments including didgeridoo, dulcimer, dulsitar, cigar box guitar, wine box bass, weissenborn lap steel, harmonica, ocarina, djembe, percussion, loops, voice and then some. Lungs, hands and feet work in harmony as Jay fuses all genres of music, creating a sound that's difficult to believe comes from just one person.
Hoads new release "Home Is Where The Heart Is" is his most anticipated release yet. With tracks written in some of the most exotic (and some not so exotic) locations around the world and intimate details of each location described in the album liner notes. The album was recorded with renowned producer Craig Porteils (Gun & Roses, Terence Trent D'arby, Diesel, etc.) in Sydney and features many specials guests, including premier Fijian artist "Knox". As per usual, the artwork and layout is breathtaking, designed to please all true lovers of art and music.
Says Jay, "I really can't wait to get back to SA as I absolutely love that part of the world. And of course, I'm super excited to be touring with a new album and pretty much a whole new set and sound. I think this album is by far the best work I have done to date, and coming from me that's a big call as I am super critical of my own work and rarely give myself a pat on the back. It truly represents all aspects of what I have to offer and I feel it really captures the live sound of my show like never before. Working with Craig was an incredible experience he brought out the best in me on every note. And with the evolving nature of music distribution, we really went to town on the artwork for this release as who knows how long physical CDs will still be available!"
