Niche is proud to present the next instalment of its Hold Tight! series, with another monster bill featuring both acclaimed international and local talent. Following his signing to Stones Throw Records as a fully-fledged MC, Jonwayne returns to the Hold Tight! stage ahead of the release of ‘Reflection’ – his first full-length rap album. Joining him on the night will be Oisima, one of Australia’s most promising electronic producers, as well as some soon to be announced special guests.

Jonwayne came onto the Los Angeles music scene by way of the east Los Angeles club Low End Theory circa 2008-09, then emerging as the epicentre of a new generation of hip-hop beat makers: Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing, Kutmah, Daedelus. Fresh out of high school, Jonwayne jumped in with homemade rap mixtapes and immersed himself in the scene. "It felt like a golden age," he says, "it was very inspiring."

He first became known as a producer, releasing the instrumental album Bowser (2011) - but it was his over-sized skill on the mic that caught the attention of Stones Throw's Peanut Butter Wolf, who signed him to record an album as an MC. Jonwayne's Rap Album One will be released October 29 on Stones Throw Records. Rap Album One is 12 tracks with raps and beats by Jonwayne, his debut album as an MC.

Capturing emotionally connective electronica with a delicate precision, Adelaide artist Oisima - Anth Wendt - samples and reworks everyone from Adele to DOOM alongside his own hypnotic originals. Since his first live appearance at Adelaide's Lost City Festival in February last year, the solo beatmaker has released 2 EPs, signed to Berlin-based Herbede Records and shared the stage with the likes of electronic heavyweights xxyyxx, Ras G, Knwledge & Mux Mool.
