Never before have we experienced the myriad delights of Brooklyn indie darlings Beach Fossils, but that is set to change this September when they make their way south for two headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Beach Fossils began in 2009 as Payseur's solo project, but before long a full band had coalesced around him to bring his dreamy washes of shoegaze to life. In 2010 they released their self-titled debut album on esteemed Brooklyn indie imprint Captured Tracks - home to fellow alternative icons such as DIIV and Wild Nothing - and soon began building a buzz for their up-tempo and visceral live shows, having long since ditched their early DIY, bedroom vibe for an aesthetic which was far more realised and substantial.
Earlier this year, following a bevy of singles and EPs, they further built on their considerable promise and acclaim with the release of sophomore long-player Clash The Truth - again on Captured Tracks - meaning that when Beach Fossils arrive on Australian shores for the first time they'll be armed not only with the dreamy back catalogue which first dragged them into the global spotlight, but also with an arsenal of cutting-edge new material that has been setting the blogosphere alight throughout the early part of 2013.
Be sure to get along to Beach Fossils when they hit these parts in September - never before has archaeology and surf culture been so aligned with the zeitgeist!
