Gun Fever Presents
West Thebarton Brothel Party EP Release & Launch Tour
West Thebarton Brothel Party are proud to announce the release of their self-titled debut EP on Friday, 31 July 2015. Released by Mirador Records, the band will embark on an Australian tour throughout August in support of the forthcoming EP.
West Thebarton Brothel Party have rapidly made a name for themselves in the local Adelaide scene supporting the likes of Courtney Barnett and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard as well as international favourites Wavves (US) and Cloud Nothings (US). The band has earned immediate praise and support from national blogs, including The AU Review, which named them one of '15 Australian Artists to Watch in 2015'.
Meeting at local pubs and gigs for their respective bands, band members Josh Battersby (guitar), Brian Bolado (percussion), Al Christophel (drums), Ray Dalfsen (vocals, guitar), Tom Gordon (guitar), Josh Healey (guitar) and Nick Horvat (bass) assembled within an unassuming rehearsal space amongst the industrial haze of Thebarton suburbia.
In July 2014, Adelaide's West Thebarton Brothel Party ventured into the seaside surrounds of the emerging Grinch Records studios in Grange with Alistair Wells to lay down the six songs that would form their debut release.
Drawing inspiration from Bass Drum of Death, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall to Aussie heroes Eddy Current Suppression Ring, the band combines a fuzz heavy four-pronged guitar attack with a rumbling three-part rhythm section to deliver cathartic and chaotic garage rock. It's wildly stapled together by the bourbon-soaked lyricism and humorous reflections of Ray Dalfsen who explores bad impressions, high school pricks and the clinical hatred of sound.
'West Thebarton Brothel Party' is out July 31st digitally and physically on 10" vinyl through Mirador Records as well as West Thebarton Brothel Party's live shows.
"West Thebarton Brothel Party are four words you need to know right now." - Rip It Up
"It sounds Australian. It's jangly like The Sunnyboys, fuzzy like The Saints and garage like Radio Birdman, yet it seems timeless rather than old." - MusicSA
