PANAMA Presents returns to the Odeon this December with a Tasmania exclusive, full-band live show by American alt-country icon Waxahatchee.
One of the hardest working singer-songwriters in the game, Katie Crutchfield grew up near Waxahatchee Creek, Alabama, adopting the name when she struck out on her own. That was over a decade ago. Crutchfield says she never knew the road would lead her here, but after six critically acclaimed albums, she’s never felt more confident in herself as an artist.
While her sound has evolved from lo-fi folk to lush alt-tinged country, her voice has always remained the same—honest, close, with a poetic Southern lilt. Determined in her desires and convictions, she is ready to tell whoever will listen.
Saint Cloud was a breakthrough album for Waxahatchee. Released at the height of the pandemic, it entered #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and was critically praised as a welcome musical escape for many. St Cloud cemented Waxahatchee’s status as an essential voice in the indie-Americana scene.
Her latest album, Tigers Blood, continues her stream of success. With features from MJ Lenderman, Spencer Tweedy, and Phil Cook, the record continues to break new ground. Digging even deeper than before, the complex and beautiful album will receive its live Australian debut this December.
This show is all ages, recommended 15+.
