Swamp Fat Jangles EP Launch
A night of drenched electric guitar and bowed banjo, articulate rhythms and the three-part harmonies of whisky drinking ladies.
Warm your cockles and bed in for a winter's night of sometimes raucous, sometimes eerie, and always beautiful music which explores themes of gothic imagery in Australian landscapes, folklore, the highs and lows of modern society, and chickens.
It's time to celebrate the release of Swamp Fat Jangles' debut EP - the lovingly crafted culmination of four years of live shows and collaboration between three distinct songwriters in the six piece Sydney band.
From Tarantino-esque blues to zombie gospel wailing with a vein of field recordings threaded throughout, the debut self-titled EP from Swamp Fat Jangles takes you straight into the heart of the secret swamp they call home. Recorded at Brain Studios with engineer Clay Segelov, the 4 tracks are a sprawling listen spanning dreamy juno keyboards and striking vocal arrangements, straight up blues riffs and smouldering dirges from the river bank. Producer Sarah Belkner has harnessed Swamp Fat's fire-side banjo beginnings and vision for creating a fully formed thematic offering, the result of which marries the warm feel of old vinyl and whisky-soaked harmonies to the clarity and power of studio recording. A perfect soundtrack for lonely night drives through the eerie Australian bush landscape or dancing and howling under the moon.
"Live they can whoop a storm of guitar, banjo and percussion, swinging from country to folk, heavy soul and New Orleans jazz leanings." - Post To Wire
"Like if PJ Harvey was from Tennessee" - fan at Get Folked festival, 2017
"Authentic, slow-burning stuff from the back of the bar." - Dave Ruby Howe, Music Director, Triple J Unearthed
Independent Artist of the Week - FBi Radio (September 2017)
The band would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that supported them during their Pozible campaign earlier this year - we can't wait to celebrate with you! Ness, Jess, Hollie, Jack and Nic x
