Soul-Centric is a groovy seven-piece soul band featuring many of Adelaide’s finest musicians across several generations.
All in Soul-Centric agree that soul is the foundation upon which it’s all built; this band marinates in Memphis Soul, a little gospel, rhythm and blues, soul and funky blues.
The band is led by Grammy award nominated American saxophonist Dusty Cox and personnel includes powerhouse young vocalist Kate Lewis, trombonist Alex Taylor, keyboardist David McEvoy, guitarist Tyler Venter, bassist Shireen Khemlani and drummer Cameron Tonkin. These players have collected many local, national and international awards individually, played with a ‘who’s who’ of local and national musical heavyweights and have been mighty in their contribution to the local musical scene in Adelaide.
Soul-Centric delivers their own musical spin on artists including Ann Peebles, Aretha Franklin, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Ruth Brown, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Booker T. and many more with original music as well. They take care of the groove and make sure you’ll ‘shake what yer mama gave ya’ from the downbeat.
