Slamalamadingdong is Melbourne’s premiere poetry slam, running since 2011, it’s the first and only poetry slam in Australia to send teams to the National Poetry Slam in the United States, sending teams in 2017 to Denver and 2018 to Chicago. It’s been a platform for the emergence of nationally renowned spoken word artists such as Luka Lesson and wāni.

The 2019 Grand Slam features the top finalists from a season of slams, competing over three rounds for spots on Team Slama to compete against poetry slams from around the country in a new national team slam tournament. It will also crown the 2019 Slama Grand Slam Champion.

Featuring on the night is 2018 Grand Slam Champion, Tenda McFly. Tenda McFly is a rapper and spoken word poet living and working in Melbourne.  His material is mesmerizing and thought-provoking, offering a youthful intelligence that is representative of both his life experience and his generation.
