Presented by Great Southern Nights, this co-headline show will feature two of Sydney’s HOTTEST up and coming acts!

POOLROOM.

Charles Waldren is a Sydney based solo artist creating electroclash bangers & sweet-tender moments under the moniker of POOLROOM. (yes the “.” is intentional.)

Growing up listening to Rat Pack records played by his parents, Waldren deeply idolised Dean Martin’s stage presence & swagger. Before long he was introduced to the sonic aesthetic of The Gorillaz, Architecture in Helsinki, and Little Dragon and it all started coming together for him in a blend of classic & new. Flume’s music and had a profound impact on how he created music which and drove him towards electronic music production. Combining a gripping performance-art live show with forward thinking production and a live-band feel are the core tenants of this project. Gripping live performances are rare in electronic music space so Waldren has made that a focal point of his live show.

So Dean Martin + Little Dragon + Flume = POOLROOM.

Coming up with a name for the project was the next step and Waldren took inspiration from his youth. “There’s a poolroom at my grandparent’s house and growing up my grandpa Clive would teach me how to play” recalls Waldren. It was a special experience, being welcomed into a place private space away from the world to be taught an old skill was something that’s stuck with him. This fed into Waldren’s ideas around live performance as he explains “I want to engage people with that feeling of nostalgia through performance whilst also offering something new.”

LAZYWAX

The highly anticipated project of long-time friends Hans Müller and Wolfgang Schneider bring to you Lazywax. Meeting at a discotheque in Berlin, the duo immediately began finding similar interests in their favourite Italia-disco producers and composers. Their instant connection lead to the birth of their first track ‘Pluto’ at Han’s studio on an 8 track tape machine, Minimoog Model-D and a Juno 60.

Since the inception of the Lazywax project, the pair have been devoted to the studio where they have been tirelessly working to create an array of quintessential discotheque tracks which draw on elements of modern European disco, whilst still paying homage to disco deities of the seventies and eighties. Although the project has been kept tightly-sealed over the years, the rumours have finally surfaced about a string of live performances set to take place in the near future.
