come feel the rapture

We knew there was something magical back in 2015 when Tom Snowdon joined #1 Dads onstage to perform “Return To” and their cover of FKA Twigs’ “Two Weeks”. For anyone who got to see the pair, now performing as No Mono, on stage for last year’s Islands part 1 tour, that initial spark had matured into a near spiritual experience. Iansek’s broad sonic textures and Snowdon’s commanding stage presence, paired with heady lazers, hushed audiences from Alice Springs to the Sydney Opera House. 

Now, having just released sister album Islands part 2, we can look forward to a national tour this August/September. With the completion of the Islands series, the band will soon be parting ways for a time to work on their other creative projects. These dates could be the last opportunity to see the band for a while! 

So, what can we expect from the shows this time? 

Pieater: Do you have any special plans on your curation of the set list? 

Snowdon: I think it's gonna be highlighting part 2 and also the Islands records together. These records were written to fit together so we want to fully show the Islands concept at these shows. Part 

2 is more energetic than Part 1 so I think playing with the different shades of the show will be important to making it work. 

Pieater: Having played the SOH on your last album tour, how will these club-like shows feel? 

Snowdon: SOH was a special moment for me. The space is so commanding. But smaller rooms can provide an opportunity to get intimate with an audience and that's magical. Some of my favourite shows have been watching bands/musicians in small rooms and playing to crowds in small rooms. I love the feeling of closeness with the performance. It's raw and real. 

Pieater: What's on the cards after the tour for each of you? 

Snowdon: hope to finish a bunch of new music. I've been making music with some friends and doing a lot of jamming again, which has been fun. More of that I think. Iansek: I’ve been working on new music across a few different projects currently.
