Jazz Fusion

TheEJT are a National Award nominated jazz group based in Sydney, Australia. The group is led by International award winning double bassist Elsen Price (Best soundtrack award – International Independent Film Awards 2016) and features some of Australia’s leading jazz musicians. TheEJT’s recent album ‘Gastronomy Astrology’ (Rippa Recordings) was nominated for ‘Best Jazz Album’ at the 2021 Australian Independent Recordings Awards and received 4/5 stars in Fine Music Magazine and 4.5/5 in newspaper The Australian. The group consists of Elsen Price on double bass, Felix Lalanne on guitar, Casey Golden on piano and Ed Rodrigues on drums.

Bandleader Elsen Price has been described as ‘one of Australian music’s treasures: a double bassist who ranges across classical, avante-garde, jazz… and more, and is utterly convincing in every context’ (Sydney Morning Herald). Performance highlights include performing with Grammy Award winner Josh Groban, Grammy Nominated artists Mike Patton and Lee Ranaldo, and International artists Sharam Nazeri and Alireza Ghourbani (Iran), plus Adnan Karim (Iraq). Elsen has performed as a soloist and collaborator throughout England, Scotland, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia, performing at the Wells Cathedral (UK), Palmerston Place Church (Scotland), 810 Outfit Café (Japan), Yilan International Art Festival (Taiwan), Auckland University (New Zealand) and has performed at many leading festivals in Australia, with highlights include many concerts at The Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour, and leading venues all around the country. 

Felix is an Australian freelance guitarist and composer. During his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, he had the opportunity to learn and perform with some of Australia's leading jazz improvisers including: James Muller, Mike Nock, Dale Barlow and Mike Rivett and international artists such as Reiner Baas. In 2015 he toured the U.S. with James Muller, David Theak and collaborated with Arturo Sandoval. In 2017, He was a finalist in the Montreux jazz guitar competition. In 2018, returning to Montreux jazz festival to perform with the Montreux Academy led by Bugge Wesseltoft supporting Chick Corea’s acoustic trio.

Receiving his Bachelors, Honours and Masters of Jazz Performance at the Australian National University in Canberra, finishing in 2009 with an extensive study on Technique, Ed Rodrigues has performed and toured nationally and internationally with many different artists across a wide range of genres.  Most notably in the Jazz field Ed has recorded with The Casey Golden Trio, Polymorphic Orkestra and is a co-founder of States of Chaos, 2020 Artists in Residence at Fine Music. As well as being featured in issue 78 of Australia’s ‘Drumscene' Magazine as one of the ‘Next Generation’ of Australian Jazz Drummers, Ed was a nominee for the prestigious Freedman Jazz Fellowship Awards in 2017. 

Casey Golden is a forward-thinking musician currently based in Sydney. A pianist with a strong personal vision and an expressive yet grounded approach to the instrument, he’s been involved in a wide range of original music ranging from jazz/improvised projects to electronic, pop and film music.

Maintaining a constant presence on the Australian music scene for the past 10 years, he has toured Australia, Asia and the UK and played festivals including Mona Foma, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Ubud Village Jazz Festival and Wangaratta Jazz Festival.
He has consistently performed and released original music with both his Sydney-based trio and London-based quartet as well as contributing to many other artists’ endeavours as pianist, keys player, composer and producer. His own albums have received high critical praise from publishers including All About Jazz (US), Jazzwise (UK), The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, Bird is the Worm (US) and Jazz Journal (UK). Currently, Casey is a member/co-leader of improvising trio States of Chaos and one half of future-electronic/production duo This Week in the Universe.
 Casey has been a finalist in the National Jazz Awards, the Bell Awards for Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year and the APRA Professional Development Awards. He’s also been nominated for a Freedman Fellowship and won a BBM Travel Scholarship.
