Melancholy lyrics with catchy hooks and sweeping instrumentals
Hailing from Canberra/ Ngunnawal Country, Kaya Byrne got his start busking outside the local Woolies, and later through cigarette smoke and 3am kebabs outside Chapel Street's Revolver in Naarm.
Taking inspiration from Aussie indie bands, folk singer/songwriters and old cinema soundtracks, Kaya blends melancholy lyrics with catchy hooks and sweeping instrumentals. He jumps between genres, injecting his story-rich songs with dirty guitar solos, gospel choirs or cinematic strings depending on what picture he's trying to paint.
Kaya is joined by Sydney indie artist, Ryan Whitty, offering an evening of soulful ballads that evoke the heartaches and lingering memories of yesteryear. His performance promises an intimate journey, each song unfolding like a story in a dimly lit lounge.
