Doors: 8PM | 8PM-9PM DJs | 9PM Steam Down
Cult favourite of the cutting-edge London music scene, multi-award-winning collective Steam Down makes its Australian debut, for an unforgettable party curated by pioneering UK promoter and label Jazz re:freshed.
Steam Down has quickly become a household name in the UK and beyond, blowing crowds away at festivals such as Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, Primavera Sound, Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here Festival and Love Supreme, and collaborating with a suite of incredible artists like Sampa the Great, D Double E, Che Lingo and P Money. With an earth-shaking stamina and a distinctly London sound traversing grime, garage, ragga and 2-step, Steam Down will take audiences on a thumping, jumping journey through the beats of the UK afro-diaspora.
Born in the vibrant clubs of East London in 2004, jazz re:freshed are without doubt the “ambassadors of London’s rebooted, revitalised jazz scene” (New York Times). Originally founded to spotlight the talent of underrepresented young artists, jazz re:freshed has scouted and nurtured the biggest names in UK jazz including Shabaka Hutchings, Yussef Dayes, Nubya Garcia and GoGo Penguin, and has since expanded its reach to international stages including SXSW and AFROPUNK.
Making its first trip to Australia, jazz re:freshed presents Steam Down, alongside a line-up of their best DJs that will have audiences dancing into the night. This isn't just a performance; it's a genre-less testament to the unifying power of music, the afro-diaspora and a glimpse into the future of live music experiences.
