HEARTBEATS: featuring Rhode Eyes + The Murmurs (SOLD OUT)
Heartbeats is a live music fundraising initiative spearheaded by five Sydney cardiologists, aiming to raise money for children and teens with congenital or childhood acquired cardiac disease, and their families. Heartbeats is an event in support of HeartKids - Australia’s only national charity dedicated to supporting those impacted by congenital heart disease. All proceeds from the evening will be going to this worthy organisation.
The Murmurs
While peers were falling into the middle aged cliches of buying a convertible, or putting on Lycra to cruise in a Sunday morning peloton, the five Sydney cardiologists that formed The Murmurs were dusting off the instruments of their youth to form a rock band together. They channelled the pressures of providing healthcare during the pandemic years into the release of gathering in a studio space every week or two to make music. Are they going to be the next The Strokes? Probably not. But their joy in playing together is infectious, and their love of the songs they interpret is genuine.
Drs Adam Berger, Alastair Carlyle, Sean Gomes, Virag Kushwaha and Shiva Roy aren't just any cardiologists; they are The Murmurs.
Rhode Eyes
Are they Roots? Blues? Country? Folk? Americana? Rhode Eyes are a little bit of all these things, beautifully melded into a distinctive sound that is theirs alone. The three things that unite and solidify in the music of Rhode Eyes are superb songs, playing and singing.
John Bracks, Tony Chubb and Damian Leonard are Rhode Eyes. They’ve been playing together since the early 90s – and it shows in their groove, instinct and musical harmony. What’s also on display is a freshness and spark that suggests they actually formed a few months ago.
