HARTWAY - 'BETTER' LAUNCH - ROCKET BAR & ROOFTOP
Dynamic duo Hartway return with new electronic thumper, 'Better (feat. Cazeaux O.S.L.O)'
Hartway's Conor Barkway and Jack Degenhart waste no time, opening 'Better' with an immediate blast of infectious funk and signature sultry sax. A collaboration that was born out of Hartway’s desire to explore more analogue-driven writing, the duo recorded at ‘synth wizard’ Luke Million's own studio in Adelaide, utilizing the prouducer's Multimoog, a rare vintage synth that is one of only 1000 ever made.
Exemplifying the pair's ability to seamlessly fuse elements of acid jazz, house and nu disco, the result is something truly unique. Hartway's Conor Barkway explains, "We’ve been keen to explore using more analog gear in our music for a while now, and who better to enlighten us than synth wizard Luke Million? After a crash course and some tweaking, the final take for the bass was recorded live in Luke’s studio, our choice of weapon being the Multimoog. Apparently only 1000 were made, so we were super lucky to get our hands on one. "
Enlisting the honeyed croon of Cazeaux O.S.L.O, the vocalist says of the track, "Things can always be better. Connecting with my people and sharing moments that encompass my past and become my future is very sacred. Love and friendship can be an eternal summer, an endless wave a cosmic dance between suns. That's how I feel it in my soul for my dudes."
Barkway said of the collaboration, "Having played a few shows with Cazeaux O.S.L.O now, he immediately came to mind as the perfect feature. His ideation and lyrical genius took the track to the next level, and we really clicked together musically. The vibe in the studio was always sky high!"
It’s been a big few years for Hartway, after they landed an esteemed slot at WOMADelaide just months after the release of their debut EP, Motions (2017). The duo won Fresh 92.7’s Producer Series in 2017 and their debut single, 'Beyond (feat. Lesley Williams)' landed at #4 in the station’s listener voted Top 92 of 2017. Hartway’s captivating live shows have made them festival favourites and have recently supported acts including Touch Sensitive, KLP, Fortunes and Joyride. With this much momentum behind them, Hartway are on track to round-out 2019 with a bang.
'Better (feat. Cazeaux O.S.L.O) is out everywhere NOW.
