FLOWERKID

MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY HEADLINE DATES

Secret Sounds is thrilled to announce that mesmerising Australian artist flowerkidis set to play two intimate headline dates alongside his forthcoming, sold-out Splendour in the Grass set.

flowerkid is set tocaptivate audiences at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne and Mary’s Underground in Sydney this June.

flowerkid’s musical journey started with an old Yamaha keyboard, gifted from his aunt. He

quickly became obsessed with teaching himself to write and produce tracks. Leaning into song writing flowerkid used his music as a way to vocalise his experience in understanding that he was trans, in the midst of Catholic school and a breakup with his first love.

After receiving an overwhelming response to his 2018 debut ‘Late Night Therapy’, flowerkid again maintained that bare-souled approach in 2019 with ‘boy with the winfields and the wild heart’. This powerful reception from fans prompted him to release an EP in 2021 featuring the popular track ‘it’s happening again feat. KUČKA’, which has garnered richly deserved acclaim from triple j, BBC Radio 1 and Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

Released in 2021, ‘everyone has a breaking point’ EP is the natural culmination of his years of self-examination and artmaking. flowerkid says, “It’s been everything I have thought about for a very long time. This body of work is a feeling that has been bottled up inside me for all of my existence on this earth.”

flowerkid’s music takes his audience through a journey of brutal honesty, confronting pain and the beauty of his coming of age. Written in one sitting from inside a caravan parked by the coastline, ‘vodka orange juice’ sifts through the emotional toll of justifying one’s transness to those too threatened by what they can’t understand.

Ride this rollercoaster of emotions with flowerkid at his intimate shows in June prior to his Splendour in the Grass debut in July.
