Evan Dando playing a surprise solo show at The Spotted Mallard this Tuesday night.
Following a sold out show at the Corner last Thursday night with his band The Lemonheads. Indie punk troubadour Evan Dando has decided to extend his stay in his Melbourne for a few days and play an exclusive solo show at the Spotted Mallard before returning home to Martha's Vineyard in the USA.
Evan Dando has achieved music-lover legend status here in Australia. Possessing just the perfect knack for irony, barefaced talent and undeniable ‘screw it’ likability, he’s long been an Antipodean favourite when it comes to songwriters.
One of the most iconic characters to intervene in the landscape of 90’s indie rock, Evan Dando and The Lemonheads have been mainstays for generations of grunge-loving aficionados.
Evan's solo album from 2003 ‘Baby I’m Bored’ saw him ditch his grunge label in favour of the heart-aching, deeply autobiographical almost alt-country sound that has made it so beloved. These are songs of decline, and in keeping with that, Australia’s very own Ben Lee even penned two of the tracks.
Expect to hear material from Evan's solo records, The Lemonheads and a few covers of his favourite songwriters.
Tickets are strictly limited at $20.
