The PERTH BLUES CLUB presents
Cross Eyed Cats + Empire Blues
Cross Eyed Cats | 7.30pm
The Cross Eyed Cats hail from Fremantle (mainly), Western Australia, and have been playing some bloody good blues for nearly 20 years (really? is it that long?) The Cap'n, Sweetlips, Gouldfingers, Baggy Shorts and Da Pumpkin congregate in the cellars and backyards of salubrious of establishments like the Davilak, Charles Hotels, the Fly By Night, Strange Company and The Duke of George in Freo, to conjure and concoct a veritable cornucopia of compositions in the idiom loosely referred to as the blues.
Empire Blues | 8.45pm
Dynamic blues power outfit Empire Blues’ primary influences come from the British Blues invasion of the 1960s. Initially, the band took its material from this period, but over time it has moved on to performing more original material in the belief that for blues music to evolve, you can’t keep just repeating the past, so in addition to their existing material the band will be performing a selection of new songs compiled over the last couple of months.
The band features prominent Western Australian blues musicians Andrew McIlroy (guitar/vocal), Alan Dawson (bass guitar/vocal) and Frank Shinall (drums).
